Mekonomen to open Europe’s most complete Mega facility in central Stockholm

14 April 2011 13:00

“Car accessories, spare parts, 24-hour workshop service and boat-related items in one and the same place”

On Friday morning, 15 April, Mekonomen will open the doors to its largest facility to date. With more than 5,000 square metres of space, customers will be offered a unique turnkey concept, with everything from 24-hour workshop service to a store, car inspection, car care and a café. In addition, the facility will be the start for Mekonomen’s entry in the marine market.

“We are now demonstrating that we are serious when we say that we don’t serve cars, we serve people. This facility is entirely based on the customer’s needs,” says Håkan Lundstedt, President and CEO of Mekonomen AB.

The facility at Gärdet will be historic for Mekonomen for several reasons. In addition to being the largest in the Group, it will offer customers a turnkey concept beyond the ordinary. A store, workshop, car inspection, car care, car rental and a café are all located in the 5,000-square-metre facility. A major feature is also that the new facility at Gärdet will be the first in Europe to offer 24-hour workshop service, which will serve all car models and is aimed at all customers.

“It’s a concept that does not exist anywhere else in Europe. Customers will be able to leave their car and then we will handle the rest. If the customer wants us to collect the car and then drive it home after its service, we can organise that. The customer may also choose to take a seat and enjoy a cup of coffee in our café while the car is being serviced. The basic principle is that everything must be done on the customer’s terms and according to their requirements. With a 24-hour workshop, we will also offer the people of Stockholm Europe’s most accessible service. We foresee major business opportunities here, particularly in terms of commercial vehicles,” says Håkan Lundstedt.

In connection with the opening at Gärdet, Mekonomen will also launch Mekonomen Marint. A large department in the facility will be geared at boat owners.

“We are entering the marine market with the aim of offering boat owners the same service and expertise for which we are known among car owners. This expansion will be exciting for the entire company. There is major demand among the country’s boat owners, primarily in terms of increased accessibility. Our aim here is for Mekonomen to be the best option for boat owners,” says Håkan Lundstedt.

At 7:00 a.m. on Friday, 15 April, the Nordic region’s largest and most complete Mekonomen facility will be opened.

Street address: Tegeluddsvägen 82, Gärdet.
