MECA affiliates all their workshops to Swedish Association of Vehicle Workshops

MECA, the automotive workshop chain, is to affiliate all of their workshops to the Swedish Association of Vehicle Workshops (SFVF) trade organisation. The initiative entails that MECA’s workshops will comply with trade agreements pertaining to repair conditions – “Verkstadens reparationsvillkor" (Workshop Repair Conditions document) – that have been prepared jointly by SFVF and Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency).

The quality of the automotive workshop industry and lack of clear-cut conditions have been questioned and criticism has resulted in an initiative by politicians, pressure groups and the vehicle workshop industry itself to make car owners feel safe in their choices of workshops.

“We feel positive that the dialogue in our industry have contributed to a clarification of vehicle repair conditions, and thus an adaptation to the demands in our industry. Our initiative to join SFVF will facilitate communication between car owners and our workshops, which will benefit both parties,” says Pehr Oscarsson, Managing Director of MECA Scandinavia.

SFVF is one of the stakeholders in the industry that has long focused on clarifying repair conditions and has now prepared the “Verkstadens reparationsvillkor" (Workshop Repair Conditions document) together with Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency).

“It feels very good that the development of the industry collaboration between SFVF and Konsumentverket (the Swedish Consumer Agency) on Workshop Repair Conditions has been positive and that MECA has decided to affiliate their workshops. This will be appreciated by many car owners and will make it easier to choose a MECA workshop next time service or repairs are due,” says Bo Ericsson, Managing Director of SFVF.
