From purchasing to inspiration: Meet the woman elevating MEKO’s wholesale operations

When Jessica Tjulander joined MEKO, she knew the role of Wholesale Director would come with challenges — but she had no idea just how much influence she would have. She has played a key role in driving both change and collaboration across the company, working on everything from strategic initiatives in tires and EV spare parts to the development of automated central warehouses. Her work goes far beyond purchasing and logistics; it’s about building networks, sharing expertise, and helping shape MEKO’s future.

From purchasing to inspiration: Meet the woman elevating MEKO’s wholesale operations

Jessica Tjulander, Wholesale Director at MEKO.

The year 2025 has been a decisive one for MEKO with the establishment of our central warehouses—a major and strategically important step for the company. There is an enormous amount of work behind this initiative, and it will strengthen our position. I don’t think everyone fully realizes yet just how impactful it will be."

How long have you been with the company, and what roles have you held over the years?

It’s now been two years since I joined MEKO. In January 2024, I stepped into the role of Wholesale Director, overseeing the wholesale business. My responsibilities include group purchasing, logistics development, and strategic work within tires and EV parts and accessories.

Can you describe your current role—what you do and how it has evolved since you started?

The role itself hasn’t changed much since I began, but there is now a clearer, group-wide focus on key areas such as commercial vehicles, private-label brands, tires, and electric vehicles. My colleagues and I concentrate on strategic partnerships with various suppliers and work to ensure the best possible conditions for MEKO as a whole.

One important network is the EV forum we’ve established within the group, where we maintain close dialogue with our business areas to move projects forward, share insights, and solve challenges. We also have regular discussions with LKQ—MEKO’s largest shareholder and a global supplier and distributor of vehicle parts, accessories, and equipment—as well as other companies to address industry-wide issues.

What major milestones or pivotal moments have you experienced in your career here?

As a group, we’ve worked together to move the organization forward, and the biggest breakthroughs have come from our collective efforts. One of the most significant milestones is our warehouse projects. The year 2025 has been a decisive one for MEKO with the establishment of our central warehouses—a major and strategically important step for the company. There is an enormous amount of work behind this initiative, and it will strengthen our position. I don’t think everyone fully realizes yet just how impactful it will be.

Is there anything you’re particularly proud of during your time at the company?

I’m proud that we’ve increased tire sales by eight percent so far this year—which is a real achievement. We’ve sharpened our focus on tires as a strategic area and are seeing concrete results. We’ve also strengthened our strategic collaboration with suppliers, which is an important part of our long-term plan.

Another highlight has been the opportunity to present the work behind our central warehouses and communicate this important message within the organization as well as to MEKO’s investors, analysts, and other stakeholders during our Capital Markets Day in September.

What challenges have you faced, and how have they helped you grow?

I come from the retail industry, where the pace is fast, and much of the work is driven by seasons—trends and rapid product development. This industry is more traditional and moves at a slower rhythm. I’ve been challenged to rethink my approach and see the benefits and opportunities that come with being able to drive change and innovation in a more structured environment. When a new car model is launched, it affects the entire automotive aftermarket, and you must be ready to respond and adapt.

Have any mentors or colleagues influenced you, and in what way?

I’ve actively worked to build an internal network where business units are encouraged to share experiences and resources to leverage each other’s strengths. I’ve also had the opportunity to serve as a mentor in the Astrid program, an initiative focused on coaching women in the automotive industry and within MEKO. Through this exchange of knowledge, I learn a lot while also contributing to others’ development. I also have fantastic colleagues, and I value that highly.

Why do you think MEKO is a great place to work, and why should others consider applying?

There is tremendous potential to drive change here, and that inspires me. MEKO is a strong, influential player, and our scale gives us the ability to shape the market through our purchasing volumes. Being a publicly traded company provides structure while offering a clear measure of our performance. The international environment is also exciting—there is so much happening in the industry right now, especially with the growth of electric vehicles.
