Joakim drives business development with IT – and has a passion for change

Joakim Wickholm, Director of IT and Program Management at MEKO.

Contributing to the creation of a common MEKO identity and work across borders has been both challenging and incredibly fulfilling.”

How long have you been with the company, and what roles and projects have you held over time?

I joined MEKO in 2023 and currently serve as Director of IT and Program Management. I was initially brought in to initiate and lead the implementation of MEKO’s group-wide ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system — often referred to as our business system. Shortly after, I was also asked to lead the IT organization.

How did your educational or career background lead you to MEKO?

I was introduced to MEKO through a recruitment firm and was immediately drawn to the company’s ambitious agenda and transformational journey. Before joining, I held several leadership roles in global organizations like H&M and larger Swedish retailers, working at the intersection of business development and technology. With a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, my career began during the .com boom, which sparked my passion for using technology to drive business acceleration—an interest that has remained central throughout my career.

What key milestones or achievements are you proud of?

A key milestone was launching cross-functional meetings to align on future shared processes, which was crucial for fostering deeper collaboration. Since then, the ERP program has become a catalyst for a more forward-thinking and collaborative culture across the company.

What challenges have you faced, and how have you grown from those experiences?

What I really appreciate about MEKO is our speed—decisions don’t get stuck in long approval chains, which is a huge advantage. But that also means we have to find a balance: moving quickly but still being thoughtful and strategic in our choices. This experience has really helped me sharpen my ability to stay focused on the bigger picture while handling day-to-day decisions.

Have any mentors or colleagues influenced you, and in what way?

Across all MEKO business areas, I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding colleagues. The exchange of ideas and perspectives has been incredibly valuable, and I’m always inspired by the knowledge and insights I gain from others.

Why should others apply for open positions here?

We aim high, move fast, and continuously evolve—there’s never a dull moment. The fast decision-making and collaborative spirit make MEKO an exciting place to work. If you’re energized by change and want to make a meaningful impact, MEKO is the place for you.

What advice would you give to someone aspiring to build a career in this industry, field, or company?

My advice is simple: Dare to share your ideas and listen with curiosity. This approach will help you thrive in any organization.

Great tires – security, quality, and a good deal

03 April 2025

Tires are one of the most critical factors for safety, comfort, and performance in a vehicle. With the right tires, car owners can both improve driving comfort and enhance road safety. Tires are also a strategically important product with significant growth opportunities and potential for upselling. This is why MEKO invests heavily in tires, including a multi-year agreement with Goodyear, one of the world's largest and most renowned tire manufacturers.

The future of smarter and faster car repairs

10 February 2025

Imagine your car breaks down and is brought to the workshop because it won’t start. After initial troubleshooting, technicians discover an issue that can't be solved with a standard diagnostic tool. Instead of towing the car to an original equipment (OE) workshop, the workshop connects to a remote diagnostics service. MEKO’s expert technicians, utilizing OE-level diagnostic tools, resolve the issue remotely, saving time, costs, and eliminating the need for the car to be towed.
