FJ Biler a/s in Randers, Denmark becomes the 1,000th workshop to join the Mekonomen concept.

“By joining Mekonomen Service Centre, the advantages gained include rapid deliveries of spare parts, access to extensive technical support and in particular, a fantastic stamp of quality,” says Lars Thomadsen, workshop owner.

From the end of the year, the number of workshops affiliated with Mekonomen increased from 778 to 1,000. The workshops, which are found throughout Sweden, Norway and Denmark, provide high accessibility for consumers and operate under the Mekonomen Service Centre brand or MekoPartner, with the same quality requirements but with a somewhat different service offering.

The choices for car owners in terms of service, repairs and spare parts increased with the introduction of new EU regulations in 2003, which strengthened the position of such brand-independent workshops as Mekonomen. The EU regulations facilitate the execution of service and repairs by, for example, Mekonomen on new cars that remain under new car warranty. This is on condition that the service is performed in accordance with the car manufacturer’s specification and using original spare parts according to the EU’s definition, where quality is now crucial. Independent workshops are also entitled to receive necessary technical information, equipment and special tools on par with brand-based workshops.
