MEKO continues to strengthen its presence in the European market through the acquisition of Elit Polska—a well-established distributor of car parts and workshop equipment, completed on August 1, 2024. This acquisition increases MEKO’s market share, making it the third-largest player in Poland's automotive aftermarket. It is part of MEKO’s long-term strategy to build a stronger and more competitive presence in the European automotive industry. MEKO aims to grow in the market and create long-term synergies by integrating Elit Polska with its already established company, Inter-Team.
Significant opportunities in a growing market
With 37 million inhabitants and over 26 million registered cars, Poland holds great growth potential. The transition to electric vehicles has yet to reach the same level as in, for instance, Scandinavian countries, and there is strong demand for car parts and services.
“We see many advantages in integrating Inter-Team and Elit Polska, both in the short and long term. First and foremost, we are strengthening MEKO’s position as a leading distributor in the Polish market. Poland still has high growth potential, and thanks to this integration, we can improve our competitiveness today and capitalize on market opportunities in the future,” says Jaroslaw Chojczak, who heads MEKO’s operations in Poland together with his colleague Piotr Zysk.
Enhanced logistics and improved storage facilities
To meet the increasing demand in Poland, MEKO plans to expand its warehousing capacity with a new, modern central warehouse. Elit Polska already has two central warehouses and 49 branch warehouses, significantly increasing MEKO’s physical presence in Poland. Inter-Team, which has been part of MEKO for some time, will also benefit from the new warehouse expansion, which is better suited for both efficiency and higher safety standards.
“In our new warehouse, we will improve efficiency thanks to a more modern design that meets both safety and fire protection requirements. This gives us the ability to offer a wider product range and drive sustainable growth,” says Piotr Zysk.
A solid platform for continued growth
MEKO’s strategy is based on integrating and developing strong local brands while being the most comprehensive partner for all who drive, maintain, and repair vehicles. The acquisition of Elit Polska takes MEKO another step towards becoming the market leader in vehicle services in Poland.
“Elit Polska complements us and allows us to advance our position in one of Europe’s largest markets. This gives us even better opportunities to serve our customers and continue to grow organically. We will also be able to realize coordination benefits, which is crucial in the competitive Polish market,” says Pehr Oscarson, CEO and Group President of MEKO.
An even stronger MEKO
Together, MEKO and Elit Polska are now building a stronger position and sustainable growth within vehicle services and spare parts in Poland and the European market. By being part of MEKO, there is greater stability and increased future opportunities compared to Inter-Team operating independently, notes Jaroslaw Chojczak.
“MEKO has provided stability and enabled us to expand our geographical presence and strengthen our purchasing channels. This leads to a stronger and more profitable operation,” says Jaroslaw Chojczak.
