Mekonomen’s acquisition of the automotive spare-parts chain Meca has been approved by the Norwegian Competition Authority. Since the approval of the Swedish Competition Authority was received in December, the acquisition can now be implemented in the near future.

“The decision of the Norwegian Competition Authority is positive and we will now implement the acquisition of Meca at the earliest possible opportunity. The transaction is good for both Meca’s and Mekonomen’s customers, employees and shareholders,” says Håkan Lundstedt, President and CEO of Mekonomen.

Mekonomen entered an agreement covering the acquisition of Meca on 12 October 2011. Meca is a well-known automotive spare-parts chain commanding strong positions in Sweden and Norway. Mekonomen and Meca will continue to be operated as independent companies with their existing brands.
